In the heart of King's Cross development, behind the Lewis Cubbit Square, you can find the Skip Garden and Kitchen !
This charity had an original idea: to recycle the skips used from the the nearby construction field and turn them into farming spots for the benefits of the local community and visitors.
As for the restaurant, it is purely vegetarian and offers a range of dishes: from soup to lasagna and from salads to cakes. The food is always fresh so the menu changes quite often.
The restaurant in itself is quite small and the kitchen is open: so you see your meal being prepared while you are seated (we ordered a soup, which by the way, comes with homemade warm wholemeal bread, and in the meantime one of the chef was preparing Danish rolls... we really could not resist to eat one after that). The food is extremely good and most of the dishes are priced at £5 or less.
From time to time volunteers come and help in the restaurant and will add their special recipe to the menu!
The restaurant is open from Tuesday to Saturday between 10am and 4pm but only serves lunch between 12am and 2pm (the rest of the time they still sell sumptuous cakes and coffee)
